Progress & Upcoming Update
It’s been over a month since the last update, so I figure now is a good time for another one!
I’ve been working on a major update of the final discussion section of the demo. I got some feedback recently that the discussion sections could use more interactivity, and I’m inclined to agree with that. There were some features I considered adding before, but decided against them since I was worried it would be too complicated to implement. But now....... I found a way! And it wasn't as impossible as I thought.
Introducing Support/Counter Points!
Now, some statements during discussions can be absorbed and used on normal Talking Points to help move conversations along. To help differentiate them between normal Talking Points, points that can be absorbed have colored outlines.
Counter Points: Text in italics with colored outlines. Used to disagree with a Talking Point
Support Points: Text in bold with colored outlines. Used to agree with a Talking Point
The final discussion section of the demo is going to serve as a bit of a tutorial for these features. I want it to be pretty easy to follow when a statement should be supported/countered but also help feel like the discussion sections are their own puzzles to solve. I should have this demo update done sooner rather than later, so hopefully I can get some feedback if anything needs adjusting!
In other news, in the past month, the web demo was also released! I was hoping this would be a quick effort, but it was definitely more involved than I thought it would be, since some of the scripts I’m using for the download demo just didn’t want to work on the web version. The good news is that I found workarounds so everything in the web demo should appear to work the same.
Because of these two efforts above, progress on the next floor is tragically still in the editing phase. I think I can add more opportunities for player interaction on this floor in particular, so I’m trying to make it the absolute best it can be. And feedback on the discussion update will definitely influence how I re-structure the discussion on this floor!
This is a pretty lengthy update for me, so thanks if you read this far!
