Ad brought me. Now, I'm curious.

Congrats on the demo! Here are my thoughts:

Pros:

- Everything was presented very nicely. The production value felt high for a solo project.

- The amount of accessibility features is impressive, especially considering the game is still in its demo phase. Most of the puzzle hints are helpful without completely spoiling the answer.

- I really liked the main cast. There wasn't anyone out of the main seven who I felt to be disposable or irritating.

- The story so far does a good job balancing giving answers while creating new mysteries.

Con:

- The discussions feel more akin to cutscenes, with the characters doing all of the major deductions. It would be nice if there was a bit more interactivity or decision-making involved.

Speculation/Predictions (Spoilers!)

- I'm really interested in seeing how the tree different routes play out! The rightmost ending definitely felt the most "canon", while the left ending really throws the tone

- Right now Leon was lacking stage presence, though I imagine a large part of this was from the cast wondering if they were even dealing with Leon. I suppose I'm a sucker for dramatic villains, but I'm also intrigued by the concept of a death game-esque story without an antagonist in the center spotlight.

Hey thanks for checking it out! 😄

I’m really glad you enjoyed the main cast, it’s really important to me that they each have a place in the story! I’m glad you mentioned the balancing of mysteries, too, that’s def something I’m conscious of.

That’s a very interesting point you mentioned with the discussions. I think the other floors will lend themselves to more interactivity / player input and already have more than the demo section. For the future floors, I can def re-review the sections that are written already and see if there are more opportunities there, too. For the floor in the demo section, hmm, to be honest I’m not sure if there are any more interactivity points I can add while hitting the same plot points 😰 I’ll have to think about this more

I won’t comment too much on the spoilers/speculations, aside from saying the two things you’ve noted are intentional 👀 Altho Leon will get his time in the spotlight eventually ofc

Hey I wanted to let you know the demo is now on Steam! If you get a chance to review it on there it could help a lot with visibility! (You have to DL the demo and run it for at least 30 min before leaving a review)

(1 edit) (+2)

Spoiler I think.

I don't know how to get the other endings. ☹️ help pls thanks

(+1)

Hey! There’s a guide in the posts, should help you out on getting them all!

(+2)

ooh gotcha! :D Thank you!

Lovin the game so far! These types of games are always very enjoyable and the puzzles on this game i thought were quite creative, i will admit i did have some difficulties solving some but nothing too crazy that with a little bit of time and thinking couldn't solve. Its more satisfying figuring a tough puzzle out for yourself even if it does take some time its worth it.

Tip to anyone wanting to play, take the time to jot down notes to help solve the puzzles (I did so by hand because ability to structure and draw but i did see there was an in game notes feature which is super cool!)

I do want to let the dev know i did come across a bug near the end of my gameplay. According to the game guide i am very close to the end  but at the part where Noah is to examine the keyboard i got this error message (see screenshot below) and can't seem to escape the Loading bit unless i exit out of the game completely.

Bug aside i really enjoyed the game and will defiantly finish it once this has been fixed or once i figure out how to get around it or what the heck i did wrong lol

(+1)

oh no! Which version of the game are you playing? So sorry about that

(+1)

Pretty sure I know what caused this, I manually deleted unused files for 1.03, so I must’ve accidentally deleted something necessary 😢 I can fix it very easily, but I won’t be home for about 10 hours! I’ll fix it ASAP tho 🙏

(+2)

no Worries no rush : ) but yeah i figured i should bring it to your attention

(+1)

It's fixed now, thank you so much for letting me know and so sorry about that!

(+2)

No worries, excited to continue the game!

(Disclaimer: I played the v1.01 build, so I have no idea about the new and improved experience 😅)

Really well made! I had a good time playing this demo. Hours went by in a flash~

The puzzles were fun, even for someone like me who's bad at them! Having an in-game notes feature helped quite a bit, and the hints helped me when I got stuck too! (which happened very often) ...though there was one particular puzzle that I got stuck on even with the hints (probably the one that's updated in v1.02)

Itch is a big meanie and doesn't let me spoiler tag things, so I'll just say that the endings were interesting! Can't wait to see how things shake out in the full game.

(side note...based on their surname, are Noah and Vivian meant to be Cantonese? 👀)

(+2)

I'm glad you had such a good time with it! 😄 For the one puzzle you still had trouble with, which one was that? Just so I can make sure I already got it in that last update!

I know what you mean about the spoiler tags, it's wild Itch still doesn't have them! If you want to mention spoilers at all, I've seen people just type out a warning and leave a bunch of spaces between. I'm totally okay with that!

(side note: yes!)

Ooh, awesome! In that case, SPOILERS (for puzzles and endings)

The puzzle I had trouble with was the shapes puzzle when playing as Vivian. The math symbols hint made me think you were supposed to add and multiply all three numbers in a certain order 😅.

For the endings, ending 3 really took me bu surprise, wasn’t expecting that outcome 👀😱. I also somehow managed to luck out into getting ending 1 three times in a row 🤣

(side note: awesome! 🥳)

SPOILERS

haha ok great news, that is the puzzle hint that was updated! (I’ll see if anyone gets super stuck in 1.02 in which case I’ll update it again if needed) Also for Endings 1/2, it’s supposed to automatically get you whichever ending you didn’t see on the second watch, but I realized there were a few ways to get around that so I also updated this in 1.02 💪

This Demo is really well done. Has a interesting premise, fun character interactions, and unique gameplay. Can't wait for the full release. Keep up the hard work.

(+2)

I’m glad you enjoyed the demo so much! 💪 I’ll keep working hard!

(+4)

This demo was absolutely perfect. It's a sin to have to wait for the full game to be released.

(+2)

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I too wish I could release the full game right away

(+5)

This demo is awesome. It has hours of content that got me invested.

(+3)

thank you! 😄

(+4)

An excellent demo to really show how the game plays. Little buggy with the backlog appearing randomly but nothing game breaking. Puzzles are well crafted and the voice acting is phenomenal! Definitely keeping me eye on this

(+2)

I’m glad you enjoyed it!! What was the issue with the backlog appearing randomly? It should only show up when shift is clicked or mouse scroll down (and has only ever done that for me). Lmk and I can work on fixing it!

(+3)

I'd usually be pressing Z to exit the menu, might have hit shift or the mouse scroll but I don't think I did, again it was usually just when I exited the menu with Z, which is close to shift and I had my mouse ready so, could have been just that.

(+2)

I’ll look into it, thanks for the info! :)

(+2)

no problemo

(1 edit) (+5)

Excellent, another ontological mystery game to look forward to upon the full release!

The artwork is nice, the music seemed fitting (if a bit loud at times), and the voice acting is quite good!

I enjoyed the characters and their dynamics so far (Vivian x April, MAKE IT SO 🌈).

I'm intrigued by the writing, especially with the different endings in the demo and how that'll branch out in the full game.

The puzzles were interesting and decently varied (even though I struggled with one of them, b/c the in-game hints kept telling me things I already figured out on my own :').

And the game has a flowchart!  You love to see it. ♥

Maybe I'm blind, but it wasn't clear to me that the different arrows on the flowchart go to separate sections of it, so I wonder if there's a way to make that (more) obvious.

I'm excited to see more!

(+2)

I’m so glad you enjoyed and especially that you enjoyed the characters! And thanks for the feedback too, I’ll address those in the next update 💪

(+5)

I can't wait for more!!! 👀👀 Thank you for the beefy demo!!

(+3)

Thank you, I’m glad you liked it 😭 can’t wait to show more!
